Sally on Important Issues

Sally served on the Mendota Heights Planning Commission and Airport Relations Commission

Safety and Security

Sally’s top priority is the safety and security of our community. She will work to address:

  • Providing our police and fire fighters with the environment and tools they need to provide top-tier community policing, security, and  fire-fighting responses
  • Delivering reliable cell phone coverage
  • Ensuring aircraft use agreed upon flight paths

Fiscal Responsibility

Sally brings to the city council the knowledge that comes with her MBA and business experience. As a fiscal conservative, she supports:

  • A budget that balances our current expenses with our revenue.
  • Building reserves to address long-term strategic plans.
  • Preservation of our historically low taxes.
  • Smart actions that maintain the City’s AAA bond rating.
  • Continual comprehensive examination and evaluation of costs associated with the remediation of our police station and city hall

Growth: Planning, Development and Community Building

Experience matters. Our city is known for its high quality of life, low taxes, and rapid snow plowing, which have helped us maintained our property values. Sally brings four years of service as a Mendota Heights City Council Member and over a decade of Mendota Heights planning commission experience, including five years as Mendota Heights’ Planning Commission chair. To maintain that standard, Sally supports:

  • A safe, secure, accessible, and efficient police station and city hall endorsed by the Mendota Heights community.
  • Life-cycle housing options for residents who wish to stay in Mendota Heights.
  • Expanded age-appropriate social connections.
  • Strong relationships with our state, county, neighbor cities, and school district representatives
  • Cooperation with business leaders to energize existing businesses.

Airplane Noise

With only 1.5 miles between the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport (MSP) and our closest city border, we need a person on the council that understands the operation, regulations, and political components of the airport. Sally brings thirteen years of experience on the Mendota Heights Airport Relations Commission and has developed a professional relationship with MSP Airport staff. She supports:

  • Holding federal and state officials accountable for promises made.
  • Insisting that aircraft use agreed upon flight paths unless safety issues cause a departure from standard corridor procedures.
  • Encouraging airlines' use of state-of-the-art noise-reducing techniques.
  • Partnering with neighboring communities to ensure equitable runway use.

Access and Openness to City Government

Sally is a long-time advocate for accessible, responsive, and open city government. Mendota Heights must strive to be both resident and business friendly. Trust relationships must be continually built and existing connections strengthened. She believes:

  • Opinions should be respectfully heard.
  • Citizen involvement should be encouraged.
  • City processes must be timely and transparent.
